A Fanboy's Confession...
Why doesn't he go buy a new car and have an affair like every other 40 year-old?Geoff Boucher, a self-admitted fanboy and blogger for the L.A. Times recently decided to share the story of his co-worker Aaron Curtis and how he plans on celebrating his 40th birthday. "As I officially begin middle age, I plan to celebrate my 40th birthday next month not with a sordid extramarital affair, a hyper-compensating hot rod or some personal quest for cosmic meaning. I will celebrate with the ultimate power in the universe -- as rendered in 3,803 interlocking Lego bricks." That's right, Mr. Curtis will be celebrating four decades of life on this planet by not only purchasing the new Lego Death Star, but by also assembling it as well. To find out more about what inspired this fellow fanboy to choose this way to celebrate a birthday, check out the entire story on the L.A. Times link above.

Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
Soon, a new online source for Star Wars collectors will open its doors! This online retail store called “The Collectorate” was created by a group or avid Star Wars Collectors. Their tagline, “By Collectors, For Collectors”, speaks to its origins and its focus. This group of enterprising collectors identified many frustrations they had encountered while purchasing items for their own collections. Finding no remedies for these frustrations, they decided to open a store focusing on the collector’s point of view. This is the first in a 5-part series previewing key features of The Collectorate.

Always get the Item you Ordered: The Collectorate ID©
In this posting we preview The Collectorate ID©. Each item in The Collectorate’s inventory is assigned a unique hexadecimal number. This number is affixed to each item by means of a small sticker that stays with the item throughout inventory, sales, packing, shipping, and direct to you. The stickers are produced exclusively for The Collectorate, and have a special adhesive that allows them to be removed.

The Collectorate ID© System allows you, the collector, to be certain you receive the exact item you selected online. You get to choose right down to the individual action figure. Now you can hand pick items just like you were there! What’s more, that number will never be used again. It belongs to you only! In part 2 we present...

Know The Condition Of An Item Before You Buy: The Collectorate Shield Rating© Stay tuned to theJawa.com for next week’s preview article. Check The Collectorate.com often for more preview articles, sample screen shots, and the opening day announcement.
