xx Sandwatch Guide: Hasbro's 2013 The Black Series - 6" Figures Wave 1

October 15, 2014, 04:04:15 PM by curto

For your viewing pleasure, the 4-figure initial wave of action figures that made up The Black Series - 6" Figures Wave 1 are now added to the Sandwatch Guide.

Taking a cue from the Marvel Legends line, Hasbro created a brand-new scale for Star Wars figures. True, there have been 6" scale Star Wars figures before, but never as well-sculpted with detailed accessories and multiple points of articulation. This new scale was meant to be the "best of the best" in terms of what Hasbro could do, and their initial wave was an interesting mix of a hero, a villain, a trooper, and a droid.  Like it or love it, the 6" scale is here to stay...but this debut wave really set the bar pretty high in terms of what the line could become.  Get the full gallery after the jump!

xx Sandwatch Guide: Hasbro's 2013 The Black Series - Wave 1

October 10, 2014, 10:53:05 AM by curto

For your viewing pleasure, the 8-figure initial wave of action figures that made up The Black Series wave 1 are now added to the Sandwatch Guide.

My oh my, how things have changed...! Originally announced as part of a resurgence of the fan-favorite "Droid Factory" lineup, these figures were a mix of characters from an aborted 3D movie release with upgrades to popular characters from the Original Trilogy. Consisting primarily of repaints and kit-bashed figures, it's not really a B-A-D (pun intended) selection of characters. But for long-time collectors, there's nothing really NEW here either, as all of these characters have been made as action figures before. Another sore spot with fans was the cardback design...a last-minute change that might have been better served if The Vintage Collection had remained for another year. October 08, 2014, 10:32:38 AM by curto

For your viewing pleasure, the 8-figure initial wave of action figures that made up Mission Series wave 1 are now added to the Sandwatch Guide.

Much line the Saga Legends basic figure line, this wave included characters seen in Episodes II & III, and featured a number of army builder figures. with limited articulation and deco, the price point was the real winning factor in these sets, essentially getting 2 figures for the price of 1! xx Sandwatch Guide: Hasbro's 2013 Saga Legends - Wave 1

October 07, 2014, 12:31:45 PM by curto

For your viewing pleasure, the 8-figure initial wave of action figures that made up Saga Legends wave 1 are now added to the Sandwatch Guide.

This wave included characters seen in Episodes II & III...which was planned to coincide with a big-screen 3D release. ALthough those plans completely changed, the toy line plans still followed through, although the execution left a lot to be desired. In an effort to reduce costs and be more affordable, this line saw a return to a limited-articulation style with basic paint deco. Despite the great sculpts, collectors have grown tired of these characters...and some perceive this move as the beginning of the end of a once-great toy line. get the full gallery after the jump!
