THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH LEGO:
At this year's Toy Fair, Lego opened the doors to the Javits Center early to a select group of media to unveil the featured items in their 2009 line of building sets. As soon as we entered the convention center and were greeted by a pair of Stormtroopers and a Sandtrooper, there was no doubt which one of Lego's licenses would be the most prominently featured.
This year, Lego is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their partnering with LucasFilm to create Star Wars building sets for Legomaniacs young and old to enjoy. To mark this major event, Lego proudly presented their most impressive range of Star Wars sets to date. From the Battle of Endor set complete with Ewoks, Biker Scouts and an Imperial bunker to the jaw-dropping Republic Dropship complete with a battalion of Clonetroopers, Lego has every corner of the galaxy far, far away represented in brick form.
While Star Wars was certainly the star of the show, other equally impressive sets from some of Lego's other lines also got their chance to shine in Toy Fair's bright spotlight. From SpongeBob SquarePants to Bionicles to Power Miners a lot of great new items in a wide array of price ranges will be finding their way to toy shelves near and far over the next few months.
Old friend Indiana Jones was also represented with several new sets, the best received of the lot being the Temple of Doom playset. Complete with Indy, Short Round, Willie, Mola Ram and plenty of track to take them all on a wild ride inside a run-away mine car.
With that, we bring our bonus coverage of the 2009 Toy Fair to a close. We here at The Jawa hope all you loyal scavengers enjoyed this behind-the-scenes peek half as much as we enjoyed bringing it to all of you. Until next
time...UTINNI!
