INTRODUCTION Here we have an interesting partially painted paint sample prototype of the 30th Anniversary 181st Elite TIE Interceptor Pilot from the Toys R Us exclusive TIE Interceptor vehicle set. This figure has copyright and date information as well as peg holes. It seems that the paint sprayers were on the fritz or someone got a little happy while painting this one up. There is a lot of white overspray on this figure around the vest and belt. The rest of the paintjob is also pretty sloppy with stray marks here and there. This may have been used to possibly test the paint application process and it was not seated in the paint sprayer correctly. Another interesting bit about this prototype is the material used to make it seems to be of a harder plastic that its production counterpart. It feels a good bit harder to the touch. As you can see the legs seem to have been shot in a mix of white and black possibly to purge a color from the molds.
